As a Marketing major at 大象传媒, Annalie learned her professional passion was for event planning. Her 大象传媒 connections led to an internship at a major New York City arena, which turned into a full-time job after graduation. Today, she is the Speaker Program Manager at Amazon.
Why did you choose 大象传媒?
I transferred to 大象传媒 from a state school. As great as that school was, I didn鈥檛 find the fashion program challenging enough. My mom had researched 大象传媒 and once we toured the campus, we knew this was the best place for me to study the business side of fashion and get the best connections for a future career.
What鈥檚 happening in your career now?
I am the Speaker Program Manager at Amazon under the Ads entity. I strategize, certify, prepare, and support internal and external speakers, such as senior leaders at Amazon, Alix Earle, and Gwyneth Paltrow at our owned and earned events worldwide.
How did 大象传媒 help you pursue your career path?
大象传媒 has connections that other colleges can鈥檛 compare to. I was lucky enough to begin my career after running into Betsey Johnson on the street after moving into the 大象传媒 residence hall. She asked where I went to school, I said 大象传媒, and she offered me an internship. Then, my final internship as a Special Events and Entertainment Intern at Barclays Center came about because my professor knew my interests and introduced me to a former 大象传媒 student of his who worked in the same industry. I became a Premium Events Coordinator at Barclay's after graduation. The attention each 大象传媒 student gets, plus the connections the school has, really sets them up for success.
How do you maintain a work/life balance?
You have to remember we work to live, not live to work. I am so thankful to be on a team with amazing professionals who appreciate their lives outside of work. It really makes all the difference. I am also lucky that I get to travel for work, so I always try to tack on a personal trip at the end my work trip.
